Updates to the Version 2.0 announcement

Today, we released an update to the announcement of Clip Studio Paint Ver. 2.0.
News about Version 2.0: New features, pricing, and release schedule

We have revised some points that were made in the August 22, 2022 announcement based on the opinions and comments that we received from Clip Studio Paint users.

• 1. Purchases of Version 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license) since January 1, 2022, can be upgraded to Ver. 2.0 for free.
• 2. Ver. 1 will continue to be supported with stability updates past the release of Ver 3.0.
• 3. There will be a discounted upgrade price for Ver. 2.0 for current owners of the Ver. 1 one-time purchase license.
• 4. We will start a free testing program of Ver 2.0 for students and other accepted applicants.

Updates to the previous announcement (August 22)

1. Purchases of Version 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license) since January 1, 2022, can be upgraded to Ver. 2.0 for free.

Anyone who purchased the following products between January 1, 2022— October 12, 2022 is eligible for this offer.

• Clip Studio Paint PRO Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license)
• Clip Studio Paint EX Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license)

Note: This also applies to the physical packaged version and PRO to EX upgrades

Once Ver. 2.0 is released, the license will automatically be applied to your Clip Studio account. We will let you know how to activate the license at that time.

2. Ver. 1 will continue to be supported with stability updates past the release of Ver 3.0

• You can continue to use your Ver. 1 for no additional cost.
• We will also provide stability updates for errors that are due to factors such as the OS, or specific devices, beyond the transition to Version 2.0.
• We initially announced that stability updates will only be provided until the release of Ver. 3.0, but for the time being, we plan to continue support past the release of Ver. 3.0.
• We will continue to provide free updates with new features for Ver. 1 until the end of the year.

3. Discounted upgrade for from Ver. 1 to Ver. 2.0

Owners of the Ver. 1 one-time purchase (perpetual) license can upgrade to Ver. 2.0 at a discounted rate for a single payment.

4. New Ver 2.0 testing program for students and other applicants

We will be starting a Ver. 2 testing program for students and other applicants who own the one-time purchase (perpetual) license of Clip Studio Paint Ver. 1 (Windows/macOS) and who may not have the means to purchase Ver. 2.

How to continue using Ver.1 and how to use Ver.2

> Users who purchased Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license) before Jan 1, 2022

• You can continue to use your license for no additional cost
• Existing services or features will not be restricted
• No subscription or additional payment is required for unlimited use
• There will be another free feature update in Winter 2022
• Stability updates will be released as necessary in 2023 and onward
• These free stability updates will continue past the release of Ver. 3.0
• Ver. 2 will be able to open files and materials made in Ver. 1

There are several ways that you can use Ver. 2.0.

• 1. Discounted upgrade to Ver. 2.0 (one-time purchase, perpetual license)
  • You can upgrade to use the one-time purchase (perpetual) license of Ver. 2.0 indefinitely for a single payment.
  • No subscription or additional payment is required for unlimited use
  • With the additional purchase of an Update Pass, you can get 12 months of early access to new features that will be available in Ver. 3.0 and later
  • When the Update Pass expires, the features will revert to your one-time purchase license, which you can continue to use for an unlimited period of time.
• 2. Update Pass (12 months)
  • Owners of a one-time purchase license can get this optional plan for early access to features that will be included in Ver. 3.0 and later
  • PRO: US$9.99 (12 months) / EX: US$28.99 (12 months)
  • You can purchase an Update Pass any time after the release of Ver. 2.0.
  • When the Update Pass expires, the features will revert to your one-time purchase license, which you can continue to use for an unlimited period of time.
• There will be a new testing program for students and other applicants who may not have the means to purchase Ver. 2

■ Users who purchased Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license) after Jan 1, 2022

• You will be able to upgrade to Ver. 2.0 for free.
• No subscription or additional payment is required for unlimited use
• Note: An Update Pass will be required to receive additional features updates for 2.1 and later.
• When the Update Pass expires, the features will revert to your one-time purchase (perpetual) license, which you can continue to use for an unlimited period of time.
• If you purchase the current Ver. 1 after October 13 until the end of 2022, in addition to the free upgrade to Ver. 2.0, you can also get six months free of the Update Pass to use at any time.
• Ver. 2 will be able to open files and materials made in Ver. 1
